Special Needs Students/Schools
I love working with special needs students, and also in dedicated special needs schools like Newhaven in Greenwich
(see testimonial below):
"I was very impressed with Mark's gentle and engaging manner. He and I had a couple of phone calls ahead of the visit to help him understand the needs and learning styles of my students and I could tell that he had really listened and taken their needs into account. My students really enjoyed his session and continued talking about questions raised for the rest of the day. Thank you Mark."
Jo Lewis – Foundation Lead Teacher
Newhaven School:
"I was reassured from the first conversation with Mark when we discussed the class needs and what they might enjoy. He is a great listener, took our concerns on board and designed a bespoke session. He sent material ahead to share with teachers as our students benefit from preparation and on the day Mark met members of staff at the start. I think the preparation paid off as he was ready for anything, very adaptable and used the bespoke plan as a base, a jump off point to meet the students as they presented over three different classes. He was not phased by tricky behaviours, understood some children had a need for breaks and welcomed them back into class and engaged with them every time. He made them feel valued and heard. This small group setting worked perfectly. The small classes gave our students a great opportunity to jump into the life of an author and understand a bit more about how ideas for books are conceived and how a book comes to life. It fitted really well with the work we are doing in library lessons for Empathy Day too. They are really pleased with their beautifully illustrated prints and bookmarks.I want to say a big thank you. We appreciate Eminent making this possible and loved the gifts. We look forward to hearing more about the next book."
